Skin Care Article: The History of BORBA and The Oily Skin Cotton Fiber Treatment Epiphany

How a simple thought about skin care, changed oily skin treatment forever...

Most of us struggle with skin care because we want beautiful, clear, luminous skin. And thanks to stress, environment, and hormones we all have stories of bad skin ruining the most important of days. BORBA founder Scott-Vincent Borba is no different.

Growing up, Scott-Vincent had horrible oily skin that contributed to a full face of blemishes. It had been something that was incredibly embarrassing for him to deal with and so he hid from cameras when he could, or made sure that he was far enough away that nothing could show.   While it may sound counter intuitive, Scott-Vincent began working as a model while attending Santa Clara University.  He found that with wonderful makeup artists his skin could look pristine and it brought back the confidence he had been missing due to his blemished skin. However, once the illusion was removed the horrible skin returned.

After graduation, Scott-Vincent began working for some of the best known cosmetics and skin care companies, such as Shisheido, Hard Candy and even Murad. It allowed him to  try a number of well regarded products. Unfortunately, none worked as well as he would have hoped. Usually the issue was one of four things; they were either cosmetic so it didn't solve the issue, were too expensive and not worth it, didn't work very well or were too harsh for his sensitive skin. Due to a family crisis, that forced Scott-Vincent to spend more time at home, it lead him to wan to create his own company -something that would allow him to stay close to his family. After doing an inordinate amount of research, I learned the body's health is both the cause of both healthy skin and problem skin. It was the best thing you can touch for beautiful skin. This is how  BORBA's Inside/Out philosophy started and BORBA was born. As he continued to experiment on his kitchen stove and use himself as a guinea pig. An innovative idea to solve the problems that come with oily skin and oily skin treatments that dry out the skin (causing other issues) came to him - while at the gym.

While during a strenuous workout Scott-Vincent noticed how his towel and clothing removed excess oils, grease and sweat. What Scott-Vincent took away from the work out was more than a hope for rock hard abs. He saw how incorporating the incredible benefits of cotton fiber, into his skin care regimen would help to keep pores clear and remove oils the same way his shirts and towels would.

Continuing his kitchen experiments he believed to have found an exceptional formula utilizing the strengths of both pomegranate anti-oxidants and cotton fibers.  He then began working with chemists, scientists, dermatologists and other professionals to polish the fomulas so that the  BORBA Clarifying product line could launch.   The rest is history...
