This week, I am going to show you a few things you can do to instantly relieve sunburn issues.
The Milk Bath: It's one of my favorite, and easy to do treatments and can work wonders. To do it you'll need 2 alka-seltzer tablets, a bucket of ice and a gallon of milk. Milk contains Vitamin D, other esential fats and lactic acid that will minimize pores and create a temporary barier on the skin while soothing pain. To do it, fill your tub with cool water and add a full gallon of whole milk (2% is ok as well). Then drop in the two Alka selter tablets for a bit of fizz. The carbonation will also work to calm down irritation. Finally, after getting in, add a few ice cubes to the tub until they melt. This will help your body acclimate to the cooler temperature. Continue doing so until the water is relatively cool... Then just sit and relax for about 15 minutes. Once you leave your tub, you'll feel as good as new.
The Skin Smoothie: Just like milk, yougurt and sour cream contain the same fats as milk that work to create a barrier on your skin while relieving pain. When you chill either the yogurt or sour cream before putting it on, you will also help minimize your pore size and lock in these fats that will help ... MORE>> reduce the stinging and burning pain. In addition, the cooling sensation from sour cream lasts longer than aloe vera alone and is far more economical.
Homemade Calimine Lotion: Did you know that the starch in potatoes offers instant relief for sunburn, granny smith apples can help to reduce redness and together work like calimine lotion? To get the forumla right, chop up one large potato, one large granny smith apple together and a tablespoon of honey into a blender and puree (honey helps the mixture stick and is also an anti-bacterial agent). Once it's blended, apply liberally to the affected area.
